Please welcome Connie Garcia as the Site Director for Acoma Sky City

The Pueblo of Acoma recently appointed Connie Z. Garcia as the new General Manager at the Sky City Cultural Center and Haak’u Museum, which serves as the visitor center of Acoma Sky City, a National Trust Historic Site. Connie is a member of Acoma Pueblo and will help lead the Cultural Center and Museum’s dual mission of enhancing the existing traditional teachings and internal practices of the Acoma people while preserving and protecting the history and culture; and exposing the visitor to the history, culture, human endurance, arts and crafts of the Pueblo of Acoma. Connie’s immediate aims are work with staff to establish Haak’u Museum as a 501(c)(3), to build a strong donor and membership base, to develop a docent program staffed by tribal community members, and to seek funding for Haak’u Museum’s permanent exhibit which will depict the strength, beauty and mystery of Acoma Sky City. Connie was previously with the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board, Inc., and earned a BA from the University of New Mexico and MA from Northern Arizona University.
