Getting Past Writers’ Block

If you are writing a letter that is going to be sent to a number of people and you just can’t seem to get started, PRETEND you are sending the letter to JUST ONE person.  There is something daunting about drafting a letter that has multiple audiences and the result is most often stilted and impersonal.  So, in your initial draft, include the name of a real person (who you really like) in the salutation.  Then write the letter as if it was going to that person only.  Your letter will be warmer and more personal.
